For several days our progress was slow, and it was only with difficulty that we arrived off Cnidus. As the wind was still unfavorable when we came off Cape Salmone, we sailed under the lee of Crete,

Als wir aber viele Tage langsam segelten und mit Mühe gen Knidus gekommen waren, segelten wir, da uns der Wind nicht heranließ, unter Kreta hin, gegen Salmone;

Y navegando muchos días despacio, y habiendo apenas llegado delante de Gnido, no dejándonos el viento, navegamos bajo de Creta, junto á Salmón.

E indo navegando lentamente já por muitos dias, chegando com dificuldade em frente a Cnido, o vento, não nos permitindo continuar por ali ,navegamos abaixo de Creta, em frente a Salmone.

Navegamos vagarosamente por muitos dias, e finalmente chegamos, com dificuldade, próximo a Cnido. Contudo, o vento não nos permitiu seguir o caminho; então, navegamos pelo lado de Creta protegido contra os ventos, oposto a Salmona.
