And he answered and told them, Elias verily cometh first, and restoreth all things; and how it is written of the Son of man, that he must suffer many things, and be set at nought.

And he said unto them, Elijah indeed cometh first, and restoreth all things: and how is it written of the Son of man, that he should suffer many things and be set at nought?

“Elijah does indeed come first,”answered Jesus, “and re-establish everything; and does not scripture speak, with regard to the Son of Man, of his undergoing much suffering and being utterly despised?

Er aber antwortete und sprach zu ihnen: Elias zwar kommt zuerst und stellt alle Dinge wieder her; und wie über den Sohn des Menschen geschrieben steht, daß er vieles leiden und für nichts geachtet werden soll.

Y respondiendo él, les dijo: Elías á la verdad, viniendo antes, restituirá todas las cosas: y como está escrito del Hijo del hombre, que padezca mucho y sea tenido en nada.

E ele lhes respondeu: De fato Elias vem primeiro, e restaura todas as coisas. Então, como está escrito sobre o Filho do homem tem que sofrer muito, e ser desprezado?

Jesus lhes respondeu: "Elias realmente vem primeiro para restaurar todas as coisas. Então por que está escrito que o Filho do Homem deve sofrer muitas coisas e ser desprezado?
