For he was commanding the unclean spirit to come out from the man. For oftentimes it had seized him: and he was kept under guard, and bound with chains and fetters; and breaking the bands asunder, he was driven of the demon into the deserts.

For Jesus was commanding the foul spirit to come out of the man. On many occasions it had seized him, and, even when secured with chains and fetters, and watched, he would break through anything that bound him, and be driven by the demon into the Wilds.

Denn er hatte dem unreinen Geist geboten, von dem Menschen auszufahren. Denn öfters hatte er ihn ergriffen; und er war gebunden worden, verwahrt mit Ketten und Fußfesseln, und er zerbrach die Bande und wurde von dem Dämon in die Wüsteneien getrieben.

(Porque mandaba al espíritu inmundo que saliese del hombre: porque ya de mucho tiempo le arrebataba; y le guardaban preso con cadenas y grillos; mas rompiendo las prisiones, era agitado del demonio por los desiertos.)

Porque ele mandava ao espírito imundo que saísse daquele homem; pois muitas vezes apoderava-se dele. E o mantinham preso com cadeias e grilhões; porém ele quebrava o que lhe prendia, e era conduzido pelo demônio aos desertos.

Pois Jesus tinha ordenado ao espírito imundo que saísse do homem que, por muitas vezes, tinha se apoderado dele. Embora ficasse preso por correntes e grilhões, e sob vigilância de guardas, ele quebrava as correntes e era levado ao deserto pelo demônio.
