Então Joanã filho de Careá, e todos os comandantes dos exércitos que com ele estavam, tomaram todo o resto do povo que tinham trazido de volta de Ismael filho de Netanias, de Mispá, depois dele ter ferido a Gedalias filho de Aicã: homens valentes de guerra, mulheres, e crianças; e os eunucos, que tinha trazido de volta de Gibeão.

Joanã, filho de Careá e todos os comandantes do exército que estavam com ele levaram de Mispá todas as pessoas que haviam sido resgatadas de Ismael, filho de Netanias. Isto foi depois de Ismael ter matado Gedalias, filho de Aicam. Joanã e seus companheiros levaram os homens fortes, os homens de luta, as mulheres, as crianças e os eunucos que haviam sido resgatados em Gibeão.
