Entonces Johanán hijo de Carea habló á Gedalías en secreto, en Mizpa, diciendo: Yo iré ahora, y heriré á Ismael hijo de Nethanías, y hombre no lo sabrá: ¿por qué te ha de matar, y todos los Judíos que se han recogido á ti se derramarán, y perecerá el resto de Judá?

Então Joanã filho de Careá falou a Gedalias em segredo, em Mispá, dizendo: Eu irei agora, e ferirei a Ismael filho de Netanias, e ninguém saberá; por que haveria ele de te matar, e todos os judeus que se ajuntaram a ti se dispersarem, e perecerem o restante de Judá?

Então, Joanã, filho de Careá, falou em segredo a Gedalias, em Mispá, e disse: "Permita que eu vá matar Ismael, filho de Netanias. Ninguém suspeitará de mim. Por que deveria ele matar-te? Por que permitir que todos de Judá que têm estado junto a ti sejam dispersados e os remanescentes de Judá sejam destruídos?"
