Und man nimmt es nicht zu Herzen, und da ist keine Erkenntnis und keine Einsicht, daß man sagte: Die Hälfte davon habe ich im Feuer verbrannt, und auch habe ich auf seinen Kohlen Brot gebacken, Fleisch gebraten, und habe gegessen; und den Rest davon sollte ich zu einem Greuel machen, ich sollte ein Stück Holz anbeten?

No discurre para consigo, no tiene sentido ni entendimiento para decir: Parte de esto quemé en el fuego, y sobre sus brasas cocí pan, asé carne, y comíla; ¿he de tornar en una abominación lo restante de ello? ¿delante de un tronco de árbol tengo de humillarme?

E nenhum deles pensa sobre isso em seu coração, e não tem conhecimento nem entendimento para dizer: A metade queimei no fogo; e aqueci pão sobre suas brasas; assei carne, e a comi; e faria eu do resto uma abominação? Prostraria eu ao que saiu de uma árvore?

Ninguém pensa; não há compreensão para dizer: "Eu queimei parte da madeira no fogo; sim, eu também assei pão sobre as suas brasas. Eu assei carne sobre essas brasas e comi. Agora deveria eu fazer da outra parte da madeira alguma coisa repugnante para adorar? Deveria eu me prostrar a um pedaço de madeira?".
