Was nützt ein geschnitztes Bild, daß sein Bildner es geschnitzt hat? Ein gegossenes Bild, und welches Lügen lehrt, daß der Bildner seines Bildes darauf vertraut, um stumme Götzen zu machen?

¿De qué sirve la escultura que esculpió el que la hizo? ¿la estatua de fundición, que enseña mentira, para que haciendo imágenes mudas confíe el hacedor en su obra?

Que proveito há na imagem de escultura, que seu formador a esculpiu? E na imagem de fundição, que ensina mentiras? Quem a formou nela confia, tendo feito ídolos mudos.

Qual proveito tem a figura esculpida para ti? Pois, aquele que a esculpiu ou quem molda a figura do metal fundido é um professor de mentiras; porque ele confia na obra de suas próprias mãos, quando faz esses deuses mudos.
