Then they came near, and spake before the king concerning the king’s decree; Hast thou not signed a decree, that every man that shall ask a petition of any God or man within thirty days, save of thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.

(H6:13) Dann nahten sie und sprachen vor dem König betreffs des königlichen Verbotes: Hast du nicht ein Verbot aufzeichnen lassen, daß jedermann, der binnen dreißig Tagen von irgend einem Gott oder Menschen etwas erbitten würde, außer von dir, o König, in die Löwengrube geworfen werden sollte? Der König antwortete und sprach: Die Sache steht fest nach dem Gesetz der Meder und Perser, welches unwiderruflich ist.

Llegáronse luego, y hablaron delante del rey acerca del edicto real: ¿No has confirmado edicto que cualquiera que pidiere á cualquier dios ú hombre en el espacio de treinta días, excepto á ti, oh rey, fuese echado en el foso de los leones? Respondió el rey y dijo: Verdad es, conforme á la ley de Media y de Persia, la cual no se abroga.

Então se aproximaram e falaram diante do rei acerca do decreto real: Por acaso não assinaste o decreto que todo aquele que pedir a qualquer deus ou humano no intervalo de trinta dias, a não ser a ti, ó rei, seja lançado na cova dos leões? O rei respondeu: Esta palavra é certa, conforme a lei dos medos e dos persas, que não se pode revogar.

Então, eles se aproximaram do rei e falaram com ele sobre seu decreto: "Tu não fizeste um decreto no qual todos os que fizessem um pedido para qualquer deus ou homem durante os próximos trinta dias, exceto a ti, ó rei, deveriam ser jogados na cova dos leões?". O rei respondeu: "O assunto está resolvido, conforme foi indicado pela lei dos medos e persas, que não poderá ser anulada".
