Wenn wir sprechen: Laßt uns in die Stadt gehen, so ist die Hungersnot in der Stadt, und wir werden daselbst sterben; und wenn wir hier bleiben, so werden wir auch sterben. Und nun kommt und laßt uns zu dem Lager der Syrer überlaufen; wenn sie uns am Leben lassen, so leben wir, und wenn sie uns töten, so sterben wir.

Si tratáremos de entrar en la ciudad, por el hambre que hay en la ciudad moriremos en ella; y si nos quedamos aquí, también moriremos. Vamos pues ahora, y pasémonos al ejército de los Siros: si ellos nos dieren la vida, viviremos; y si nos dieren la muerte, moriremos.
