Aber das Volk sprach zu Saul: Sollte Jonathan sterben, der diese große Rettung in Israel geschafft hat? Das sei ferne! So wahr Jehova lebt, wenn von den Haaren seines Hauptes eines auf die Erde fällt! Denn er hat mit Gott gehandelt an diesem Tage. So erlöste das Volk Jonathan, daß er nicht starb.

Mas el pueblo dijo á Saúl: ¿Ha pues de morir Jonathán, el que ha hecho esta salud grande en Israel? No será así. Vive Jehová, que no ha de caer un cabello de su cabeza en tierra, pues que ha obrado hoy con Dios. Así libró el pueblo á Jonathán, para que no muriese.

Mas o povo disse a Saul: Há, pois, de morrer Jônatas, o que fez esta salvação grande em Israel? Não será assim. Vive o SENHOR, que não há de cair um cabelo de sua cabeça em terra, pois que operou hoje com Deus. Assim livrou o povo a Jônatas, para que não morresse.

Então, o povo disse a Saul: "Deveria Jônatas morrer, ele que trouxe tamanha glória a Israel? Longe disso! Assim como Yahweh vive, que nenhum fio de seu cabelo caia no chão, pois ele trabalhou com Deus hoje". Então o povo resgatou Jônatas, e ele não morreu.
