For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.

For unto this end was the gospel preached even to the dead, that they might be judged indeed according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.

For that was why the good news was told to the dead also — that, after they have been judged in the body, as people are judged, they might live in the spirit, as God lives.

Denn dazu ist auch den Toten gute Botschaft verkündigt worden, auf daß sie gerichtet werden möchten dem Menschen gemäß nach dem Fleische, aber leben möchten Gott gemäß nach dem Geiste.

Porque por esto también ha sido predicado el evangelio á los muertos; para que sean juzgados en carne según los hombres, y vivan en espíritu según Dios.

Pois por isso o evangelho também foi pregado aos mortos, para que, mesmo que tenham sido julgados na carne segundo os critérios humanos, vivam em espírito segundo os critérios de Deus.

Para este propósito, o Evangelho foi também pregado para os mortos, para que, embora julgados segundo os homens quando na carne, vivam no Espírito, segundo Deus.
