And David said unto God, Is it not I that commanded the people to be numbered? even I it is that have sinned and done evil indeed; but as for these sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, O Lord my God, be on me, and on my father’s house; but not on thy people, that they should be plagued.

Und David sprach zu Gott: Bin ich es nicht, der gesagt hat, das Volk zu zählen? Und ich bin es, der gesündigt und sehr übel gehandelt hat; aber diese Schafe, was haben sie getan? Jehova, mein Gott, es sei doch deine Hand wider mich und wider das Haus meines Vaters, aber nicht wider dein Volk zur Plage!

Y alzando David sus ojos, vió al ángel de Jehová, que estaba entre el cielo y la tierra, teniendo un espada desnuda en su mano, extendida contra Jerusalem. Entonces David y los ancianos se postraron sobre sus rostros, cubiertos de sacos.

E disse Davi a Deus: Não sou eu o que fez contar o povo? Eu mesmo sou o que pequei, e certamente fiz mal; mas estas ovelhas, que fizeram? Ó SENHOR, Deus meu, seja agora tua mão contra mim, e contra a casa de meu pai, e não haja praga em teu povo.

Davi disse a Yahweh: "Não fui eu que ordenei que numerasse o exército? Eu fiz algo abominável, mas estas ovelhas, o que elas fizeram? Yahweh, meu Deus, que a Tua mão castigue a mim e a minha família, mas não castigue o Teu povo.
